Sir Sanford Fleming College Dr. Greg Lee, president of Capilano College, addresses the closing luncheon for the 1996 CANASEAN Manager program in the ballroom of the Waterfront Centre Hotel. Attending the event were more than 65 business leaders and senior government officials, as well as all the diplomats representing the ASEAN countries, plus China and Columbia. Jazz Student Remembered lhe students, faculty and staff of the Jazz Studies program at Capilano College would like to acknowledge the untimely passing on November 21 of Jason Blake. The Grand Prairie, Alberta native was a percussionist in the first year of the Jazz Studies Degree program. He had lived in Vancouver for the past five years. Due to his part-time status, Jason, 25, was not known to all of our faculty or students, but his private music instructor found him a delight to teach because he was such a hard worker and extremely eager to learn. Others who taught him or shared his classes will miss his amiable personality and enthusiasm. Jason’s family has donated his drums for the use of College percussion students. The Jazz Studies program appreciates their thoughtfulness. This equipment will be utilized for the musical development of young people with the same goals and aspirations as Jason.
