Bank’s Generosity to Benefit Students in All Programs at Capilano College rew Hockin, vice president and manager of the Hongkong Bank of Canada, North Vancouver branch, and Susan Dujmovic, manager of the HKBC West Vancouver branch, presented a cheque for $50,000 on Thursday, January 16 to Dr. Greg Lee, president of Capilano College and Allan Taylor, a member of the College Foundation Board. The funds will be used to assist Capilano College students with good academic performance, as well as financial need, to continue their studies. “This gift is very generous,” says Randi Duke, executive director of the Capilano College Foundation, “especially because the Hongkong Bank of Canada is allowing the College to decide where to allocate the funds. This is the first gift of this size that we have received to support our students that is not restricted to a particular area. It is available to all programs at Capilano College.” Adding to the significance of the contribution is the fact that it is eligible for matching through the provincial government’s Matching Endowment Program for Scholarships and Bursaries. “This will create a $100,000 fund, which will help a lot of students in the coming years,” Randi explains. “It is part of our ongoing campaign to obtain permanent awards and equipment for Capilano College.” Ona Personnel Note Hee New Year to all!
