They — College briefs Pottery sale The Capilano College ceramics studio is holding a sale of recent works on April 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Maple building studio. Approximately 20 potters will be participating in the sale. Works range from functional to fanciful and include earthenware, majolica, salt glaze and reduction. Cloth and culture Art History instructor, Patricia Singer, is this year’s guest presenter at the Greater Vancouver Weavers’ & Spinners’ Guilds Memorial Lecture. The free lecture takes place on Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Port Moody City Hall’s Inlet Theatre. Circles of Envy: Cloth and Culture will trace the origins of Sassanian (224 - 642 C.E.) woven patterns and discuss how and why these designs were emulated throughout the Early Medieval world from Europe to China as symbols of courtly culture. : were told that taking a program fter him. Poetry workshop College English instructor, Dr. Andrew Klobucar, will present a poetry workshop in May titled Digital Technology and Language. Media production assistant, June Hunter, is the last of three winners in the 50/50 lottery contest. The contest is part of the Capilano College Foundation’s 50/50 lottery, which benefits the Sechelt campus library. June won two tickets to Vancouver World Music Collective at the Capilano College Performing Arts Theatre. The draw for the 50/50 lottery grand prize of $5,000 is on May 2. The event was sold out well ahead of time and $6,000 was raised for the Linda Carney Endowment Fund. Mother of Pearl provided an outstanding night of entertainment and the food prepared by Bob Feist and Chris Gray was superb. The event was a massive team effort.
