The Informer Page 5 February, 28 1989 International Update With International Day coming Tuesday, March 7, it seems appropriate to bring you up to date on the latest in College’s world-wide activities. In Malaysia: The second phase of the Malaysian Entrepreneurial Project is winding down with the return of Al Oberndorf to Vancouver. Al has been delivering a series of lectures on management in Mainland Malaysia. During the third phase this winter, two Malaysian officials will visit Canada. A second project in Malaysia is a feasibility study for the establishment of Centres in Kuala Lumpur similar to the Enterprise Development Centre here, but modified for Southeast Asian needs. Susan Bell, manager of the North Shore Enterprise Centre, Jon Jessiman, and Rick Gibson-Shaw of Thunder Bay, Ontario, will undertake the task in March. From China: Ms. Chen Wei, manager of the China Enterprise Management Centre Consulting Office in Chengdu, Sichuan is at Cap for two months studying market research with Bill Inglis. Bill will provide on-site training in Chengdu at the end of this term. Japan: Aichi Gakusen and Cap have renewed their exchange contract for a further five year period. Also, students from Bunri College are expected to return again this year for their summer program. En Route: Several faculty and administrators are winging their way across the Pacific this term. If it’s February, Al Oberndorf and Susan Bell are in Malaysia; Bob Bagshaw and Brian White are in Thailand, and Doug Jardine is on his way to Japan. In March, Jon Jessiman will be in Southeast Asia and China, Bill Inglis will go to China in April, and in May, Brian White will return to Thailand and visit China. Foreign Student Admissions Tests: The International Education Advisory Committee is examining the relative merits of Canadian test forms for the admission of foreign students. Nick Collins chairs the task force. Watch for visiting delegations from Chinese educators, Taiwanese, and another group from Malaysia.
