Editor, Informer: | appreciate that there may always be confusion when changes are made in our administrative structures at the College. Obfuscation has long been a by-word for lawyers although quite a number of us try diligently to dissuade others from that stereotypical image. Since the distribution on campus of the little blue wallet card of frequently called numbers, | have been delighted to receive calls concerning: - uncollected refuse on the north campus - Quality of food in the south cafeteria - an obstinate administrator - horse droppings in the parking lot - several invitations to what could only be described in polite circles as social events Careers was never so exciting; Instructional Services may be. | would be grateful if your readers could be informed that MY telephone number is 984-4975 and that of Doug Jardine, the President, is actually 984-4925, not as printed in the wallet card. | am confident that those calling with such weighty concerns may be much more satisfactorily dealt with by Dr. Jardine and |! would not want him to miss any of them. Thanks for your assistance. Jon L. Jessiman, Associate Dean Careers/Instructional Services Correction The much maligned Jon Jessiman was listed in the last issue as chairman of the Advisory Board of the North Shore Economic Development Centre. That is incorrect—it is the North Shore Enterprise Development Centre. This is not be be confused with the NSEDAC (North Shore Economic Development Advisory Committee) which Alan Smith is chairing, nor the NSFES (North Shore Fisheries Enhancement Society) which is looking for YOU to sit on their Board. (See article above.) Society needs Cap rep The newly formed North Shore Fisheries Enhancement Society is looking for a representative from Capilano College to encourage and coordinate student and community involvement in the redevelopment and operation of the Seymour River Hatchery. The Seymour River Hatchery has been operating since 1977 under the Community Economic Development Program and contracted to BCIT up until this past August. The NSFES is in the process of obtaining the contract and now requires active Participation from the community. This is best achieved through individual representation of user groups and potential user groups. Although Capilano College has not been involved with the Hatchery in the past, we believe that the facility offers a great educational experience that should be utilized by its closest educational institute. The Hatchery not only provides fish culture knowledge but also demonstrates how fisheries management integrates with other resource users— a great outdoor classroom at your finger tips. The Seymour River Hatchery is going to be redeveloped as an educational facility and we would like to see the College as a major participant.
