Liberals fund scholarship

The North Vancouver-Seymour
Women’s Liberal Commission is throwing a
fundraising event on February 27 to establish a
scholarship in Women’s Studies at Capilano
College.

The wine and cheese party starts at
7:30 p.m. and entertainment includes jazz
singer Pamela Reynolds and Simon Fraser
University’s Off Centre Dance Company.

Special guests include B.C. Liberal

leader — and Cap instructor — Gordon Wilson,

and President Doug Jardine who will be
presented with the cheque for the scholarship.

Gala kicks off

Don’t miss the gala kick-off and ground-
breaking ceremony for the North Shore Sportsplex
on March 4 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

A giant tent is being erected for this special
event in Parking Lot 1 — by the Fitness Centre —
and the area will be roped off from March 1-4,
displacing about 50 parking spaces.

Rock’n Roll Music

Noted songwriter Jim Vallance — Bryan
Adam’s writing partner — is speaking to a music
class on Tuesday February 23 from 12:30 to 2:30
p.m. in room H113. The session is open to
everyone.

Barbara Lepsoe, a first
year student in Outdoor
Recreation, was one of
the Olympic torch
bearers. She was also
one of the 88 runners
selected to attend the
Olympic's opening
ceremonies.
