Ihe Capilano College Foundation has two suggestions that will make your Christmas shopping easier and help the College at the same time. Back by popular demand are gift-wrapped Christmas puddings for $10 ( not for vegetarians, however) and, new this year, The Canadian Women’s Calendar Three former Capilano College Textile Arts students were recognized at a Vancouver design competition held in October and organized by the Canadian Society for Asian Arts. Rosalind Aylmer, who is temporarily replacing Textile Arts instructor Lesley Richmond, received first prize. Emiko Carley was awarded second prize. Allison Barr also received an award for her design. The winning garments will tour the province next spring as part of the Canadian Society of Asian Arts travelling show, Legacy of Blue. Davor Marjanovic, an instructor in Capilano College’s Commercial Animation program, was an award winner at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival. His feature- length film, My Father’s Angel, was awarded the Rainer Werner Fassbinder prize last month. Only films with a Christmas shopping at the Foundation office helps College programs for $12. This 25th anniversary edition, called Her Story 2000, celebrates the achievements of Canadian women. Pudding sales will benefit the Emergency Endowment Fund and calendar sales will assist the Chair in Women’s Studies Endowment Fund. Both are eligible for matching funds, really remarkable artistic quality for the cinema and TV market are selected for the competition and the artist discovery program of the festival. Feature films are presented, along with some exciting documentaries and shorts. The event, called Northwords, was held at Western Washington University and was hosted by the WWU Canadian-American Studies program and the Western Libraries. The audience was comprised of a distinguished gathering of university officials and students. doubling the value of each gift.
