In his music there are influences from every continent and many eras: the Beatles, jazz, bossa nova, Gregorian chants, Andean flutes , Latin American nueva cancion, Portuguese fado , Minas Gerais folk tunes, African rhythms , Villa Lobos - all fused into a wholly singular style. During a career that has spanned more than 20 years, Nascimento ' s deep! y moving music and rich, astonishing voice have captivated audiences from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo to Paris to Buenos Aires to New York. Among his fans are jazz luminaries Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Wayne Shorter and George Duke, all of whom have collaborated with the Brazilian singer/songwriter.
