Plant sale upcoming The Landscape Horticulture Department is holding their Christmas plant sale on Friday, December 11, but if you.want to get in on the plants, you must put your order in by 1 pm, Wednesday, December 9. They will be selling poinsettias, mumsettias, azaleas, chrysanthemums, and cyclamen. Order forms will be appearing in your mailbox soon—if you have any questions contact Judith Weiss at 2208. And once you’ve bought that plant... Now that you’ve bought a poinsettia, what do you do with it? Here’s some more advice from Landscape Horticulture. 1. Take your plants home as soon as possible. Do NOT leave poinsettias in a cold car or outside as they do not like getting chilled. 2. Unsleeve your plant as soon as you get it home. Place it in a bright location away from heat sources or cold draughts. The closer you keep these plants to 60-65° F, the longer they last. 3. Water generously with luke warm water when soil appears or feels somewhat dry. Do not let these plants stand in water continuously—they don't like wet feet. Never let these plants get so dry as to wilt. 4. These plants have a sufficient fertilizer charge to last for 6-8 weeks. P.S. Poinsettias look sensational under candelabra light—try it and see how the colour comes to life!
