Meanwhile, back at the Tower..,,, Jardine takes over At the Board meeting on Tuesday, April 23, Dr. Douglas K. Jardine was appointed Acting Principal of the College, effective May 1. Jardine has been at Cap since 1972, and has filled the post of Acting Principal before—prior to the arrival of Paul Gallagher. Principal given pot Ethel Sviatko (front page, bottom) presented a caricature of Gallagher and his many attributes on behalf of the College; Joy Smith (bottom right), presented him with a piece of pottery by Donna McLaren, containing a jade plant, on behalf of the College Employees Union; and Mieneke Mees (bottom left) gave Gallagher aceramic platter from the Crafts department. Bill Murdoch, appropriately garbed (upper left), made the presentation of a new scholarship for Cap which will be awarded each year to one deserving student. ''The selection committee wil] select the applicant whose goals, attitudes, behaviour, and performance exemplify the universal qualities of excellence espoused by Dr. Paul Gallagher," the scholarship reads.
