Dennis Burte My varied musical background has led me recently to creating music that dra'vYS from many sources. This piece is a musical adverttre, inspired by an interest in contrast, transitions, and improvisation. Robert Caldwell Robert teaches percussion at Douglas College and regular1y performs with new music ensembles, modern dance groups and is involved with many recording projects. A founding member of Current Figures, he is inft uenced by classical and modern muisc as Yvell as Indonesian, Atrican and East Indian music. Coat Cooke A Vancouver cornposerl performer, Coat plays with his group .. Lunar Adventures ". Mark Douglas I am interested in ¥Kiting music that is challenging for the players as Vv"ell as stimulating for the I isteners. Ar-ne Ege nfel dt My most recent music has focused on several diverse interests: Improvisation, ethnic music and computers. Combining these elements in an aesthetically plasing and artistically satisfying music is my current goal. Martin Golfrit My current musical interests are an expression of what might be called a musical stew. For some twenty-odd years things have been tossed in the cauldron . Its most distinctive navors come rrom a fascination with narrative, devices, and an intense lovelhate relationship with notes . As always, my gratitude to tr,ose who stir the pot. lain Macanulty Computers are handy tools these days. I have been creating computer programs to compose my music for several ars now. This is otten a rrustrating way to r to realize musical ideas. But it provides e potential to create something I couldn't have done by myself. I have found the computer to be a valuable learning tool as well as a compositional performance tool. i Kenneth Newby b. 19S6 Victoria, Abbotsford, Vancouver, New Orcheslra Wor1y & Martin Gotfrit Special thanks to the Firehall staff' We gratefully acknoVv1edge the support of the cfy of Vancouver and the province or B.C.
