Minutes of a joint meeting of the School Boards of North and West Vancouver,

I
held at Capilano Gardens, West Vancouver, on the evening of
Wednesday, August

18, 1965. Representatives from the School Boards and administrative staffs
of Sechelt and Howe Sound were present as guests, as also were Dr. Walter

Hardwick of the University of British Columbia, and Professor R. J. Baker

of Simon Fraser University.

Mr&. Enid Ross, chairman of the West Vancouver School Board, was in

the chair.

The purpose of the meeting was to hear from Professors Hardwick and

Baker an interim report of the feasibility study which they are now
conducting on the North Shore.

They outlined in general terms the content

of the report regarding need, site, and curriculum, and indicated that the

report would be completed in approximately two weeks.

A period of questions and discussions followed, after which the following
motions were passed:

Moved by Trustee Powell; seconded by Trustee Thorpe:

1. That copies of the feasibility survey be issued to the trustees and
administrative staffs of North and West Vancouver, with additional copies on

the same basis to the School Boards of Howe Sound and Sechelt e
2.

That the administrative staff of the two boards take such steps as

they deem advisable to enlist the co-operation of the mass media.

J. That at the earliest convenient opportunity after the release of the
report, a joint meeting of all Boards be held for discussion of the report
with the authors.
4. That when the boards have agreed upon their reaction to the report,
a formal presentation be made to the Boards by the authors at a meeting open

to the public.

Moved by Trustee Powell� seconded by Trustee Lynas:
That the tentative dates of the meeting referred to in the previous
resolution shall be September 8th and September 15th respectively e

The chairman expressed the thanks of the meeting to the guest speakers

before adjournment.
