Capilano College president, Greg Lee (right), harnesses his mountain climbing skills at the AECBC conference and AGM. College board member, Sam Weller (above), waves from the top of his perch from the East Kootenay climbing centre. Attendees were invited to sample the lifestyle of the Rocky Mountains during the two-day event in June. Ascending the millennium Cranbrook’s College of the Rockies was the site of the 1998 Advanced Education Council of British Columbia (AECBC) conference and AGM held June 4 to 6. Members in attendance were told that educators would be challenged to develop a wide range of _ initiatives and learning opportunities as we enter a new millennium. They were also told that this would require risk- taking and innovations. In keeping with this theme, our College president, Greg Lee, and College board representative from Sechelt, Sam Weller, experienced a bit of their own risk-taking by sampling some of the indoor challenges offered in the Canadian Rockies. @nformer
