Peter Jones (Chairman) - Mr. L.D.Gc Brooks (Secretary) Mr. Jones opened the meeting by giving a report on the May 9th meeting which he and ether chairmen or college committees had with the Minister of F.ciucation, and which was also attended by Doctors Chapman, Perry and Chant 9 Mr. Jones indicated that the press ,release which was forwarded to all members of thi·s Committee was a concise report on: (a) the establishment ot the Lower Mainlsnd College Co-ordinating Committee; and (b) the objectives of this COWllitteeo When these objectives are realized as far as possible 9 t.hie Committee vil.l meet with the Minister9 at which time, if appropriate, Mro Jcnen will again request permission for plebiac1tes on the North Shoreo In the light of these developments, Oro Walter Hardwick has not been authorized to proceed with the study of Lower M~inland College need.so Mrs. Rosa moved and Mr. MacDonald seconded a motion appointing Mr. Jone• to represent the North Shore Regional College Committee on the Lower Mainland Coll~ge Co-ordinating Committee. Carriedo Mr. J@nes announced th&t the Cormm.anit7 College Association or Britiah Colllnbia i• meeting on Saturday, .J.\ane )rd, 1967 at ~:30 a.m. in Caatlegsr, B.C. He recommended th~t everyone who is able should· plan to attend this meeting. The guest apeaker will be Mr... Frank Beinder, Pree1dent Qf the ~.C~S.ToAo 8 who ¥ill speak on college pleb1,•c1tes • . Dr. Wilson moved and Mr.. Fougberg seconded a motion approving and pledg1~g financial support for the engagement of a consultant by the Lower Mainland College Co-ordinating Committee, should the latt~r require such services. Carried~ /2 .- V - 2 - Mro Jones agreed to contact Mr. John Arnett and arrange an informal discussion with him regarding a publicity campaign in the North Shore college districto Mr~ Brooks wa• esked to assemble and sum~ari~e all information . which is available on college costso Mrs. Ross moved and Ml-. MacDonald seconded a motion that the costs incurred in the appointment of Mr. W. F. McGown as Assistant Director of Adult F.ducation for the period Septembe~ 0 1966 to June, 1967 be paid by the North Shore Regional College Coordinating Committee to the North Vancouver School Boardo Carriedo Mr. MacDonald moved and Mrs. Ross seconded a motion euthorizing Mr. Brooks to request funds from the Boards to be deposited in the North Shore Regional College Coordinating Committee bank account. Carriedo Mr. Brooks will send a statement to each Boax~o Mr. Fougberg moved and Mr. MacDonald seconded a motion that this Committee ehould pay the travelling expenses of any member who wishes to nttend the Community College Association or British Col'umb1A me~ting in Castlegar on June Jrd. Carried. It was decided to hold the next meetin.g ot this COl'lll!l1ttee in the evening on the 6th ot June, 19670 Mr. Brooks will make the necessary arrangements and send out a notice.
