This is one of the key elements of the future development of the college 'T h e proposed in Educational Plan for Capilano College 1981-1986' a report prepared for the Minister of Education. During the preparation of the report last year, public meetings were held in Howe Sound, on the Sunshine Coast and on the North Shore, and over 100 citizens completed questionnaires requesting input on the college's future. At the very start of the report, the college makes it clear that more financial support is necessary to meet all needs and provide for expansion. "... in the period 1981 through 1986 there will be ·m o r e applicants and established post-school educational needs in the College community than the College will be able to respond to unless it receives considerably more financial support than it has received in the recent report," the plan's preface says. "... the College cannot be assured that it will have the resources to do well everything it might wish to do within the limits of its mandate and the legislation by which it is governed." The report goes on to talk about the "reluctance" with which "difficult priorities" must be set. Yet the report goes on to say that "Capilano College plans to maintain a physical presence throughout the college region ... even when such developments may not be the most efficient or economical."
