Join the Challenge

North Vancouver has accepted a challenge
from Ottawa to participate in the Great
Canadian Participaction Challenge on
Wednesday, May 16, and everyone in North
Van. is urged to get out and help. The
idea is to get as many people as possible
together and participate in any physical
activity that makes your heart beat faster
such as walking, jogging, swimming,
cycling, or whatever, for 15 continuous
minutes. There will be organized activities
as well, including a mass walk up Lonsdale
at noon. If you have any questions, call
Marian Foxall at 984-4181 or 926-8841.

Needed: old eyeglasses

Donate your old eyeglasses to help a third
world person see. There's a box in the
Outdoor Recreation dept. where you can

deposit old glasses, or alternatively, you

can send them in an interoffice envelope
to Judith, Outdoor Rec. Operation Eye
Sight Universal operates in 17 countries
and uses lenses, frames and parts.

Summer Soccer School

Don't forget, if you have a soccer
enthusiast in the family between the ages
of 8 and 14, who might be interested in
the College's Summer Soccer School, talk
to Joe lacobellis right away. The sessions
will be taking place July 2-6 and 9-13,
and registration for this popular event is
on a first-come, first-served basis.

Expedition scheduled for July

If you are interested in Backpacking or
Mountaineering, you will be interested in
Outdoor Rec's summer expeditions.
Backpacking I! will feature a one week
trip to Warner Pass in the Chilcotin

where students will hike above the tree
line, and Mountaineering 11 will include

a week of excellent climbing in the B.C.
Coast Range. These expeditions are in July
and have a prerequisite of the Level |
courses or equivalent experience. For
further information contact Outdoor Rec.
at 391. Level |! courses in Backpacking and
Mountaineering are also available this
summer .
