It was a big moment for a lot of us and an important occasion for the College and the North Shore. After over four years of operation we have finally turned the sod on our own facilities on our own (temporarily leased) land! STUDENT RUNS FOR SCHOOL BOARD A General Studies student, Pearl McKenzie, is running for North Vancouver School Board as a project of. the General Studies 160 group. McKenzie is a part-time student and mother of a five and eight year old. Her candidacy is a result of the class's study of the Canadian scene and municipal problems, and they are asking all interested to help the campaign in whatever way you'can. If you have no time then you could leave a donation with Janet Morris. December 4, 1972 LYNNMOUR PARKING GIVES WAY TO TREES "Many of you will be glad to know that three 'good' stands of trees were saved this week at Lynnmour when parking was eliminated or moved on the plan. Once the contractors survey lines for the buildings had been run and the clearing for the buildings completed (by the middle of last week) it was discovered that three important clumps of trees wound up on roadways or on parking slots. The decision in this regard was pretty simple: cut out or move the parking slots (from our original 450). We have also re-directed our service road and shifted the remaining parking. Some of the shifting was also due to the need to preserve one of the larger banks untouched so as not to upset the water table on part of the land. It is hoped that we can gain back some parking area by pushing through onto Hydro leased District land under the hydro poles. Negotiations are under way in this regard’ FOR FREE Frances Burstein has six small cute puppies that she is trying to find good homes for. We now have 2000 non- College-student community residents who have registered with the "Library" branch of our Media Centre for borrowing privileges. The 2000th signee was Linda Hocke, a West Vancouver Secondary student, resident on Bowen Island. PENNY PREDICTS NO SNOW "I have a note here from Penny LeCouteur: "After 4 years of skidding and skating I have finally succumbed and bought snow tires. This will almost guarantee NO snow this winter!!'" December 18, 1972 ~ PENNY WAS VERY WRONG "Penny LeCouteur's pessimism was turned into optimism; and she is to blame for the white pre-Christmas and for the Lynnmour work stoppage." PARTY!
