Prominent Art Therapist to visit Van In her "'pre-Capilano life'', Terry Adler worked for ten years as a social worker in a treatment centre--Browndale/Warrendale-- with. Dr. Fischer, founder and Director of Toronto's Art Therapy Institute. She would strongly urge anyone interested in person- al growth to take advantage of his upcom- ing Art Therapy Experiential Workshops at UBC and the Jewish Community Centre March 20 and 21. ODr. Fischer, says Terry, is an exceptional healer and teacher and this is a great chance to explore one's inner world and creativity through the use of Art Therapy. Through a person's spontane- ous paintings and clay sculptures, images emerge and through these non-verbal mess- ages can be obtained a greater understand- ing of oneself and others. Dr. Fischer has devoted much of his’ long psychiatric car- eer to the prevention of emotional distur- bances in children and adults. Widely re- garded as an authority on the effecitve- ness of art therapy in diagnosis, treat- ment and rehabilitation, he pioneered res- idential treatment programs for children and adolescents, the extensive use of group psychotherapy and the use of art as a tool for personal growth. The workshops are from 9:30 to 4 and the fee °$45, For more information contact Lois Woolf, 926- 9381. Or talk to Terry.
