Applications invited for Exchange Friday, December 11 is the deadline for applications from women students who are interested in spending a term working and studying at Aichi Gakusen College in Toyota, Japan. Capilano College and Aichi Gakusen established a special relationship in 1983 which provides for the exchange of students between us. Its curriculum focuses on International Education, Early Childhood Education, Nutritional Studies, Fine Arts, Fashion Design and Textiles. The exchange provides for two women students to study at A.G. for one term commencing in September 1988. The students receive a scholarship of Y750,000 (U.S. $4,500), airfare, anda special program of studies. In return, the students assist Aichi Gakusen Faculty in teaching four classes per week in conversational English. The students will be selected by a committee of Capilano faculty, who are particularly concerned with a statement of how an International experience fits into the applicant’s career goals, and her willingness to prepare in terms of both language and culture for a stay in Japan. Any student who wants further information should contact Jackie Walker, Secretary to the Dean of Instructional Services, at local 2922 (984-4922). Applicants must declare their interest in writing to the Japanese Exchange Committee, c/o Instructional Services Division, by Friday, December 11, 1987. The Committee will start interviews in late January. international Studies Corner Among the information items available from Rob Turner in International Studies are a pamphlet from CIDA on their Award Program for Canadians, and an ACCC International newsletter with a report on evaluation in an International Context. Copier Demos Are you confused by the array of buttons and shining lights on our new photocopiers? Most of the photocopier demonstrations have been provided, but there are still a couple coming up. On Tuesday, November 24 at 1:00 pm there will be a demo of the photocopier on H building, Level V. For those who live on level IV, that copier will be demonstrated Tuesday the 24th at 1:45 and again on Thursday the 26th at 4:45 pm. Those two photocopiers are Konica 2803s, which are the same as the one on the ground floor of A building, so if you missed that demo you could always try crashing one in H building. Incidentally, your /nformer editor is proud to report that she has already managed to jam the A building main floor machine so badly that Dave Callow had to take it apart with a screwdriver.
