The North Shore Enterprise Development Centre, which operates ona grant to Capilano College, provides services to entrepreneurs who are planning new businesses. Many of their clients are looking for assistance in a wide variety of areas such as: * Market Research * Commercial Artwork * Retail Planning * Small Business Planning * Financial Modelling * Promotion & Advertising If you have students who could use some “real world" experience and who would enjoy working with and assisting someone who is planning a new small business, have them call the NSEDC at 984-2004. Is there life after college? Those of us who work here may never find out, but students who are interested in this topic and are looking for answers to | such questions as "What will I be doing in / ten years?" may be interested in a Career Planning Workshop being held by the Counselling department. This free, non- credit workshop is part of a series being offered this semester. Classes will be held in the Student Resource Centre in M building for five weeks starting Thursday, September 26 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Another series will start November 6. Enrollment is limited and those interested should register through the Counselling Reception area in M building. Registrations will be accepted on a first come basis. Women’s Access in M P/T The Student Development Centre for Women's Access and Career Placement is located in the M building and provides free workshops and counselling Monday through Friday from noon to 1 pm and on Thursday mornings. Among the topics dealt with are: Career Decision Making and Planning, Assertiveness Communication, Strategies of Confidence Building, Women's Discussion Groups, and Personal Relationship Problems. ~ ™~% ~ Fitness Centre up and running The Fitness Centre is now open for business from 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Among the programs offered are Noon Hour Aerobics, 12:15-12:45 pm, Fitness Testing, Exercise Counselling, Weight training and jogging. The sauna and showers are available for use any time from 8 to 5. For information on Fitness Centre services drop in or call Joe Iacobellis at 2281. There IS such a thing as a free lunch At least, there is at Capilano College on September 30 if you are a Single Parent student. Staff and faculty are asked to please pass the word that all students who are single parents are invited to a lunch hosted by Student Services at which they will be introduced to resource people around the college and will have a chance to discuss practical ideas about child minding, car pools, etc. This is an RSVP event, and replies must be received by September 19. The lunch will be held in M building from noon to 2 pm-- direct interested parties to Connie Gibbs in Financial Aid or Yvonne McColl in Counselling. This lunch isn’t free, but... Are you one of the people who is to be found in the South Cafe at lunchtime, gazing wistfully into the sandwich case in the hopes that something new and exciting in the way of lunch will magically appear? Take heart! The North Cafeteria is starting a new service called Dial-a-Deli Sandwich that will let the sandwich of your choice come to you for lunch. Phone the North Cafe at 2970 between 9 and 10 am and place your order. Your sandwich will be made and delivered to the South campus at 11 am for your delectation. A complete list of fillings is provided on a flyer which has been circulated, and includes five varieties of quadruped, four cheeses, two other protein sources and six varieties of rabbit food. The price will be higher, but you can kiss tired egg salad and tuna goodbye.
