PD Award continued successful candidate completes his or her professional development, s/he will be expected to prepare a brief report which may be published in a college newsletter. Stay tuned! Office “moves’ Dec. 18 The Registrar’s office is “moving” on December 18, although, of course, they aren’t going anywhere. Responsibility for the administration of Registration is leaving Alan Smith, Director of Planning, and going to Rob Turner, Dean of Instructional Services, so as to better balance the workload upstairs. Reminder: Last chance Friday Friday, December 11 is the deadline for applications for the exchange to Aichi Gakusen College in Japan in the Fall of 1988. Two female Capilano students will have the opportunity to study in Japan for a term—for details contact Jackie Walker in Instructional Services, 2922. Phone Directory update Following are some additions and corrections to the Campus Telephone Directory. Now don't just sit there and gape at this page—get out your pen and add them to your directory! Nancy Newman’s number is 2541, not 2535 as printed. Paul Jones, Special Needs Services, has moved to room B102, local 2104, and Ethelyn Mcinnes-Rankin has moved to B105, local 2101. Among those omitted from the Directory were Tom McKeown in Humanities, 2424 and Judy Granger in the Typing Pool, 2038. Greg Sharpe has temporarily moved to room A317, local 2983 and his phone is being answered by Nancy Burnell. Under Who’s Who in the front of the directory, the Advising Centre and Counselling were omitted. Add in Mila and Kerry in Advising, 2990, and Norma in Counselling, 2968. And Job Placement should have been changed to Student Employment, and is Lesley Gillis’s balliwick (2965). You can also add the following for the Registrar’s Office: Admissions - Gloria Poole, 2019; Records - Bev Hughes, 2018; Room Bookings/Admissions - Cheryl Helm, 2014; Rom Bookings/Records - Doreen Cottrell, 2016; Secretary to the Registrar - Hazel Soon, 2011. Mailbox: To: The College Community: Within the last week three pieces of Art (a faculty and two students’) have been stolen from the second floor of the “A” building. Our three Art Programs are housed in the “A” building in perhaps less than satisfactory facilities for an Art School; but nevertheless, the faculty and students make every effort to provide a condusive working atmosphere to benefit not only themselves but the College as a whole. The Art Programs use the hallways to display their - works which provide many benefits including the ability of faculty and students to critique their works for evaluation, for faculty to display various techniques, and for visiting artists and educators from other institutes to assess the quality of our Art programs. In addition, the works do provide a more attractive element to the somewhat drab institutional “yellow” of the hallways. The unfortunate incident of the past week, however, has meant that many of these art works will no longer be able to be displayed. On behalf of the Art Programs, | would ask that we all consider the effects of such action and should you have any information regarding this issue or the three missing art works, please contact my office. Thank you. Bev Harnett, Associate Dean, Career/Vocational Division Also: Exhibit problems The people in the C.A.S.P. program are concerned about vandalism of the B.C. Museum Exhibit they have sponsored, which is being displayed on the second floor of H building. Two of the wooden letters on the display have been taken. If anyone has anything to report about this matter, would they please call Dolly Kelly in C.A.S.P., local 2956.
