Held in the Centennial Theatre, the choirs thrilled the full house audiences with Brahms’ “Requiem” in 1992, Orff’s “Carmina Burana” in 1993 and Mozart’s “Requiem” in 1994. This year, Haydn’s “Te Deum” and Bach’s “Magnificat” will be featured. The two choirs, with a combined membership of about 150 singers, will be joined by several soloists and orchestra of members of the CBC Vancouver Orchestra and Vancouver Opera Orchestra. Four of the soloists are graduate students of the College’s Music department who are now beginning professional singing careers. Annual April Concert a Community Highlight tenor, will be joined by Richard DeVillier who was so well-received as the bass-baritone soloist in the concert last year. Two modern Canadian works will be sung as well. Capilano College Singers will sing Ruth Watson Henderson’s “Missa Brevis” and also a piece commissioned by them, written by faculty member Mark Armanini entitled “Floating With Flowing Waters.” David Vandereyk, a Music department faculty member, will play Bach’s delightful piano concerto in A major, BWV 1055. The concert will be held Sunday, April 9, at 3 p.m. at the Centennial Theatre.
