Regional College Co-Ordinating CommittE!( and Erlucation Minister :Leslie Peterson. t a Concern had been expressed when Mr. Peterson, in the Legislature, indicated that the North Shore might not get a college but might have to share faclli tles with other Lower Mainland communities. Peter Jones, Co-Ordinating Committee chairman, was critical of Mr. Peterson, pointing out that he had not Indicated, over a three-month period, If he would grant the request for a college plebiscite In the four school districts. A meeting was requested to discuss the situation. Following the meeting, Mr. Jones issued the following statement: •The Co-ordinating Committee of the North Shore :Regional College met with Dr. L, Peterson, Minister of Education, and with members of his staff on Thursday, March 9th. A 2-hour discussion took place, •we were asked to supply some / additional information about the proposed college which we are preparing immediately. The Minister also asked us to consider certain new proposals about the relationship of the North Shore College to the other present and future colleges In the Greater Vancouver Area. •The Minister assured us that from now on his Department would be actively studying these relationships and that he hoped to have a preliminary study completed In 3 weeks. In the meantime, we are having further discussion with members of his Department, •we expect to hear from the Minister of Education again In about 3 weeks." School Freeze
