Adult Special Education Conference Done Cap Proud Paul Avery returned from the 10th Annual ASE Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel full of praise for its organizers, Jolene Bordewick. "Jolene did us proud, as the conference was a great success. This will certainly give our college a temendous public relations boost in the area of adult special education, not only locally, but throughout the province. She deserves a big thanks from all of us for the wonderful job she did and the energy and effort she put into it on our behalf. I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge the hard work put in by Jan Gibbs in coordinating personal care services to conferees with severe disabilities. Without the assistance of Cap's PCAD students (organized by Jann), many disabled adults would not have been able to attend, and the conference would have lacked a valuable ingredient. In fact, the existence of a parallel conference put on by the B.C. Educational Association of Disabled Students very much depended on her efforts." — Paul Avery Computer Viruses at Cap We knew it would only be a matter of time, and now it has finally happened. Two computer viruses were found on campus. These viruses are specific to MS-DOS computers (IBM compatibles), and were found only in the ARC. NO ADMINISTRATIVE AREAS ARE AFFECTED. THE HP3000 AND MACINTOSH COMPUTERS ARE NOT AFFECTED. All other instructional areas were checked, and no infections were found. Fortunately, these viruses were relatively harmless. No damage was caused; they simply made themselves known. The ARC is especially vulnerable because of the large volume of students coming and going using the ARC disks. We will be advising the ARC as to how to implement ‘Safe Computing’ practices. If you think your disks might be infected, please contact Mike Allan in the Computing Centre (2325) to have them scanned—Bob Walker INFORMED CHOICES Tuesday, March 13 Bachelor of Music Faculty Recital.
