Tea provides a healthy boost for Foundations he spring Tea for Toonie was held on Thursday, April 22 in the Birch building’s room 126 with Foundation board member, Gail Owen, as hostess. About 130 members of the College community came by to sample the magnificent treats prepared by Gail and her team of volunteers. In its second year, the tea supports the larger CommuniTEA project of four North Shore Foundations: Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, Memorial Library Foundation of West Vancouver, North Shore Community Foundation, as well as our own foundation. Many people purchased tickets for the queen-size quilt made and donated by the Foundation office’s Polly Richards. The quilt was won May 2 at a larger CommuniTEA tea-off, also held at the College, by Joy Phelps of West Vancouver. The event featured a tea garden by Murchie’s, Nite Cap performances, tea readings and a silent auction of 35 unique bird houses donated by John Schaff. John is the father of Retail Marketing instructor Heddy Bing. The auction raised more than $1,300. Over the next two months, members of the community will be having their own tea parties to raise awareness and funds for the four foundations. If you would like more information, including how you can win some great prizes, call the Foundation office at local 4983. Submitted by Lana Robinson @nformer
