Days. Representatives on the committee will be inquiring of each division suggestions for topics relevant to the area. We invite your suggestions. We have determined a tentative date. So mark your calendars for May 18, 19 and 20, 1993 at the very least. It is anticipated we would offer Instructional Skills Workshops the following week May 25 - 28, 1993. While these are tentative dates, we thought you might like to have them in well in advance so you could mark your calendars and plan around them. CIDA Awards for Canadians ., This award is intended for Canadians seeking to increase ' their skills and expertise in the field of international development. To receive funding through this program, applicants must develop a study or work program that will enable them to develop the skills and expertise that they require for a long term career in international development. At least 25% of the total time for which funding is required must be spent in a developing country. The proposed program must be geared towards meeting the applicants professional development needs while also addressing a specific priority of the host country. Detailed information and application forms can be obtained by contacting Diane Blaney in Office Administration local 2364. CIEA Professional Development Workshops At a recent meeting of provincial Faculty Development Liaison Officers the initial planning for the March Professional Development Days was commenced. This year’s topic will be Taking Charge of Educational Technology. This seminar will be held the weekend of March 5/6, 1993 and promises to be very informative. Mark your calendars for this seminar which CIEA sponsors annually for all Faculty Associations. More information will be forthcoming in this column as well as from our local Faculty Association Office. Instructional Skills Workshop The next Instructional Skills Workshop is scheduled for the first week of January, 1993. The four days are January 5, 6, 7, and 8, 1993. Our attempt at holding a workshop early in the academic year did not produce sufficient participants and we hope that this date coming before Spring classes begin, will be more suitable for a larger group of faculty. Handbook on Research Funding Sources The Joint Scholarly Research Committee at Malaspina College have recently produced a handbook to assist faculty in accessing research funding sources at the federal and provincial level. This edition is dated March 1992 and there is a possibility some of the data may already be out of date however, should you be interested in reviewing this handbook, contact Diane Blaney at 2364. Fall Grant Applications Deadline A reminder that the applications for Grant funding for conferences or research will be reviewed later this month, All applications should be forwarded to Diane Blaney in Office Administration prior to November 13, 1992 in order to be considered in this adjudication round. as printed on recycled paper
