MARCH 29 ISSUE DEADLINE: MARCH 22 New Play Brings Lives of College Students to the Stage Playwright Peter Eliot Weiss can call himself a trendsetter. In his Haunted House Hamlet, the audience wandered from scene to Shakespearean scene. Now a trend has emerged with his current play, Hall of Mirrors. It frees the audience to wander among 10 tiny rooms to watch intense scenes of self-revelation. The play, which will be performed at the College’s Studio Theatre March 13-16, and 19-23, was culled from the journals of College students. The actors, playing composites of the youthful journal writers, reveal secrets and inner turmoil. Issues ranging from abuse to abortion to religion to politics bubble up. Director Dawn Moore suggests that the power of the play comes from its truthfulness. The audience, being so close, forms a bond with the actors and gains insight into the lives of youth. Performances are at 8 p.m. each night in the Studio Theatre, R105. General admission is $8 or $7 for students when advance tickets are purchased or $9/$8 at the door.
