Wendy is taking over the program from third year coach Shannon Macey who will continue to work with Wendy as the team’s assistant coach. Wendy, a native of Ontario, had a very successful competitive career with Queen’s University where she captained her team. After graduating from Queen’s in Biomechanics, Wendy stayed on as the assistant coach of the university’s varsity volleyball team for The College Foundation has a great deal for you he Foundation has discovered a way to help people feel good about their phone bills. A new affinity program with ACC TelEnterprises Ltd. is offering a choice of three long distance savings plans and two Internet packages to employees, students, alumni and friends of the College. Foundation director, Lana Robinson, says a portion of each month’s billings will be given back to the College by ACC to support a newly- established technology fund. “It’s a great way for people to help themselves and others,” Lana says. ACC is offering three separate plans: 10 cents a minute anywhere in B.C. anytime; five cents a minute on Sundays anywhere in North America; and nine cents a minute evening and weekend calls anywhere in Canada. There are also two Internet Access packages going for two seasons. Most recently, Wendy has been working at UBC as head coach of its junior varsity program. “With the high quality of female volleyball players being developed in the high schools on the North Shore, I am confident that Capilano College will soon be a power in College volleyball in British Columbia,’ Wendy says. Beautiful watercolor could be yours! beautiful framed watercolor, painted by retiring Mathematics instructor Robert R. (Bob) Rennie, A.EC.A., could be hanging on your wall on October 23. Bob, who is a marine watercolorist, has generously donated a piece called Heading Out to the Capilano College Foundation. Valued at $350, it will go to one lucky ticket holder who is in attendance at the 30th anniversary event being held at 2 p.m. in the Capilano College Performing Arts Theatre on Friday, October 23. Tickets are $5 each, or three for $10. Funds raised will go towards a 30th anniversary endowment fund to provide bursaries for Capilano College students. Winner named in Communitea prize draw More than 4,000 people on the North Shore participated in the CommuniTea Party, presented by the Capilano College Foundation, Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, Memorial Library Foundation of West Vancouver, and the North Shore Charitable Foundation. The project raised more than $40,000 from a wide variety of tea parties held over a three month period. All hosts were eligible to win a weekend for two at the Wedgewood Hotel in downtown Vancouver. North Vancouver’s Helen Wait, a member of the North Shore Charitable Foundation, is the lucky winner of the prize. @nformer
