We welcome Montreal
composers Joane Hetu
on saxophone and Rainer
Wiens on guitar for this onetime evening of music. The
concert will feature ten of
Vancouver's most inspiring
improvisational musicians
for a magnificent night
of music as we premiere
commissioned work from
Ms. Hetu and Mr. Wiens.
Our ensemble will feature
horns (Coat Cooke/reeds,
JP Carter/trumpet, Brad
Muirhead/bass trombone),
strings (Chad MacQuarrie/
electric guitar, Tommy
Babin/bass), voice (DB
Boyko/voice), electronics
(Chris Gestrin/keyboards,
Lee Hutzulak/electronics)
and percussion (Skye
Brooks/drums).
The phoenix, with its great
beauty, creates intense
excitement and deathless
inspiration. We explore this
universal theme that offers
hope for renewal.
