THE INFORMER PAGE 8 NOVEMBER 21, 1990 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT By Ruth D'Hollander FACULTY DEVELOPMENT GRANT AND CONFERENCE APPLICATIONS The Committee has just adjudicated another round of requests for research projects and assistance with conference expenses. This was no small task considering that the amounts requested totalled over five times the amount available. To help ensure equitable allocation of funds, the Committee used the guidelines set out in last year’s Grant and Conference Programmes. Each eligible request was valued against four criteria: degree of personal professional growth to the individual; value to the discipline/career/vocational area; contribution to the College’s image; and value to classroom effectiveness. An updated policy regarding eligibility, application procedures, and evaluation criteria will be published shortly. Grant recipients are: Terry Adler, Health Programmes, $1000 to attend the World Indigenous Peoples Education Conference in New Zealand. Rosslynn Anne, Early Childhood Education, $443 to undertake training in Child Sexual Abuse Intervention at the Justice Institute. David Bates, Aquaculture, $872 to attend the Northwest Fish Culture Conference, Boise, Idaho. Riley O’Connor, Business Management, $1000 to attend the Canadian Information Processing Society National Conference in Victoria.
