N.S.NEWS SEPT 24,78 p16 Cap College 'home at last' Capilano College will receive a significant gift for its 10th birthday. After sitting precariously on l~ased property for its first decade, the college is about to have its own home. Education Minister Pat McGeer announced last week that the ministry has authorized the college to purchase the Lynnmour Campus site from the Distri"t of North Vancouver at an agreed price of $4,205,225. From now on, the campus can be regarded as a permanent site and the plans for future capital development can be pursued · with confidence. · Construction in the years ahead will eventually replace • the temporary buildings which are now erected on the site. It is anticipated that there will be emphasis on acquiring specialized facilities for vocatiodal education and expanding the types of career offerings. Dr. Lalit M. Srivastava, College Council chairman, acknowledged that this commitment to Capilano College by the education ministry has created for educational opportunities on . the North Shore. The minister, be said, should be commended for bis decision - one which recognizes the importance of the college as an established institution in the community.
