More Computer Tips Frequent computer users are familiar with problems that can be experienced in the back or wrists due chair type and the height of their table, and many are working at ergonomically correct work stations. But how many of you have the computer as an add-on to your desks and are working at an awkward angle? - Are you looking at your screen from an awkward angle, chin jutting out and head back (neck problems)? - Lack of space. Do you have to sit very still, unable to stretch out (back and shoulder problems)? - Are you constantly extending your arm to reach the mouse and using it for extended periods of time (wrist, arm and shoulder problems)? Take frequent breaks when working for long periods. To rest your eyes, turn your gaze to an object in the distance outside your window. To rest your arms, neck and back, get up and move around for a few minutes at least every hour. Anyone wishing further information regarding ergonomics and computer use, please call Health Services at local 2964. ESL Program Needs Volunteers ou don’t have to travel far to meet new people and learn from other cultures. The Office Assistant Program for ESL students is seeking language partners who can give these students an opportunity outside the classroom to practice their English over coffee, lunch, or a favorite activity. Language partners are native or fluent English speaking volunteers. If you are interested in learning about other cultures, this may be an interesting volunteer opportunity for you. Language partners are asked to commit to at least one hour a week. For more information, please call Mary Giovannetti-Seward, convenor, Office Assistant ESL program, local 2373. i @nformer
