of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Howe Sound.

Capilano College began as an idea on March 9, 1964
when a f e a s i b i l i t y coramittee was s t r u c k to consider a
two year c o l l e g e on the North Shore. A study was subsequently commissioned which recommended such a c o l l e g e .

On March 7, 1968, a p l e b i s c i t e was held approving
the establishment of a r e g i o n a l college i n the
f a c i l i t i e s of the West Vancouver Senior Secondary
School. Capilano College f i r s t opened i t s doors to
784 students i n September, 1968.

Today marks the f i r s t graduating c l a s s of students
who have achieved the A s s o c i a t e i n Arts and Science
Diploma, marking the s u c c e s s f u l completion of four terms
of s t u d i e s .
