Sechelt ran “model program” Capilano Coilege's Elderhostel program, which ran this summer in Sechelt, was described as a "model program" at a B.C. Elderhostel coordinators meeting on Oct. 4. The meeting, involving the coordinators of all B.C. Elderhostel programs and the Executive Director of Elderhostel Canada, was set up to exchange information and plan programs for next year. Sechelt Elderhostel Coordinator April Struthers notes that Capilano was the first of the programs to billet students out in the community. "They were really interested in our billeting situation," she said. “Some places are even thinking about going to billeting because of our good experience with it." The coordinators were also impressed with the community support that was shown on the Sunshine Coast and the level of community involvement. Incidentally, the coordinators’ meeting was filmed by a TV crew, and a segment on Elderhostel will be shown on an upcoming edition of the CBC TV program "The Best Years."
