Tourism Alumni Help Out Capilano College is proud that its alumni are eager to help the College further its mission and goals, and the alumni of the Tourism Management Program have demonstrated just how valuable a resource alumni can be. For the past four years, the Tour- ism Alumni Dinner Committee has coordinated an annual fund-raising alumni dinner for the Tourism Management Program. Nov. 19, 1993 marked the fourth annual event, which raised more than $1,600 to purchase books for the Patrick Olenick Tourism library collection. These dinners have raised almost $6,000 for the Alumni Tourism Management Bursary during the past three years. Kudos to everyone involved! The blueprint for success of this event this year was straightforward. Alumni, students, faculty, advisory committee mem- bers, co-op employ- ers and industry friends were invited. The evening in- ' cluded cocktails, dinner, a guest - speaker (Mr. Pat | Corbet, president | and chairman of the | Council of Tourism Associations of B.C.), entertainment, networking, information exchange and a chance to win some valuable door prizes. The fabulous Capilano College Jazz Quartet provided entertain- ment. A highlight of the evening was a silent auction. The committee solicited prizes from various busi- nesses to be auctioned off during the evening. Everyone enjoyed them- selves immensely and at the same time made a donation to their alma mater. The Resource Development office plans to strengthen alumni relations at Cap by creating an Alumni Focus Group. If you would like informa- tion about it, please call Patrick at loc. 2765 or drop by his office, A-010B.
