A three-year project called Education for Global Competencies is opening doors in Europe for Early Childhood Care and Education students at Capilano College. Starting in the fall of 2005, nine ECCE students or graduates will have the opportunity of studying abroad and completing an internship with campus-connected child care centres in England, Stockholm or Greece. “Anyone wanting an international Ws F e. Learners will benefit from the diverse cultural and academic experience that will enable them to work effectively in a multicultural and global context.” Full story online A lasting impression Identical twins Melissa and Michelle Alblas have doubled the pleasure of volleyball head coach Wayne Desjardins since their arrival from Cambie High School two seasons ago. The 19-year-olds play for the Capilano Blues lady's volleyball team and are enrolled in the College’s Human Kinetics program. When the two aren't playing beside each other on the court, as they've done since Grade 7, they're usually sitting beside each other in the classroom. Their marks are generally at the top of the class. Last year, the sisters jointly received the Capilano College Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Award. Each also received an athlete scholastic award. According to Wayne, the twins, sporting 4.0-plus GPAs this year, are good candidates to have their names etched on the hardware once again.
