April 18/97 STAFF CAREER DEVELOPMENT THUMBS UP !...... FOR THE LIVE WELL, WORK WELL WORKSHOP “One of the most enjoyable and interesting workshops that I have ever attended", was just one of the many wonderful comments stated by staff attending the "Live Well, Work Well: A Lifestyle Management Workshop for People Under Pressure" on April 10, 1997. Heather McCullough, of High Performance Lifestyles, guided the audience through an upbeat and refreshing day of a new understanding that Health is a process. The interactive Stress Map exercise revealed our concems about the pressure and stress that we live and work with. Heather reinforced that Stress is just a response - a natural reaction to any demand (pleasant or unpleasant), and that Health was the ability to restore balance in response to these continued disruptions in our lives. Participants were enthusiastic............ " inspiring" " concrete steps for change" ” excellent - everyone should be encouraged to attend” " a dynamic, encouraging speaker" " very helpful to how you live" ypu " thank you !!1) The day concluded with a session on the 'Secrets of Successful Sleeping’, based on the Sleep Thieves project. The big news was that 8 hours of sleep per night is the survival level only, and that 9 to 10 hours per night is the requirement for peak performance on a daily basis . Thank you everyone for your support and making the day such a happy one! ©) INDIVIDUAL STAFF CAREER DEVELOPMENT FUND Great response so far to the new funding available for Professional Development through the Individual Staff Career Development Fund.
