Guild to give grads prizes

The Greater Vancouver Weavers' and
Spinners' Guild has decided to offer an
annual prize to two worthy graduates of
the Craft Program. Craft coordinator
Mieneke Mees, said that the offer was made
"in appreciation of the work the Capilano
College Craft Department does in
introducing weaving skills and fostering
the craft within our community." The
awards ceremony, during which an executive
member of the Guild will make the
presentation, will take place on Graduation
day, May 24.

Scholarship winners

The recipients of the Rita Johnson Memorial
scholarship for the Spring 1986 semester
are Denise Klemincic from Retail
Management, Joan Schwartzenberger from
Outdoor Recreation, and Leslie Ginther, a
Psychology student. Congratulations.

New SCAT scholarship founded

Through the generous donation of a West
Vancouver businessman, a new $500 SCAT
Advisory Committee Scholarship has been
established. The scholarship will be
awarded for academic excellence to a West
Vancouver student entering the SCAT program
in the fall of 1986 on a full time basis.
The SCAT program is issuing a friendly
challenge to the North Vancouver business
community tomatch this donation and create
a similar scholarship for North Vancouver
SCAT students.

Sax on campus

The next concert in the Music Transfer
program's series will be held Wednesday,
March 26 at 12:10. Julia Nolan, saxophone,
and Jane Gormley, piano, will be the guest
artists. The concert is free but donations
to the Music department's Grand Piano Fund
are more than welcome. They are also tax
deductible.
