Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Yours in Toto, Lynne Hamilton, United Way '88 -| Cap's Business Grads are ready “4 to take on the world. Over 130 students from Business programs, Office Technology, and Accelerated Retail Management received their diplomas or certificates in the College's first Fall Graduation Ceremony, November 24. Earlier in the month, 14 students in the Tourism Management Re-entry program received their 3 diplomas in a ceremony at s Squamish. Our cheery, United Way Chair Lynne Hamilton is looking for some help next year. Any volunteers? Ian Tate, who works for B.C. Hydro and served as the "Loaned Representative" for this year’s campaign, says working with Lynne is a pleasure, but we already knew that. Cap's United Way Campaign, under the able direction of Lynne Hamilton (ARC) exceeded its goal and raised 30 per cent more than last year's total. Lynne says our high dollar intake has earned the College an Award of Merit which will be presented soon. Using a yellow brick road approach (see Lynne's poem), the campaign raised money through a pub night and draw run by the Student Society, the slowpitch match against the Danger Bay Wailers, and several other events on and about campus. Close to $600 was donated by the Student Society. Cassie Fischer, an academic studen won the society's draw of a free spring credit course, and there were several other winners of reserved parking spaces, a night at Whistler, and other goodies. Lynne has run Cap's campaign for four years now, and says she's ready for some help. Next year, she hopes to be training a co-chair. "We should all be congratulated for our cross-campus campaign," says Lynne, adding, "I am looking forward to increased volunteerism next year and an even bigger campaign." Funds from the campaign go to aid members of the College community, to the North Shore Mentally/ Physically Handicapped Society, and to the HandiDart transportation centre. ,
