THE INFORMER PAGE 5 JANUARY 30, 1991 Two Generous Donations Benefit Students in Music Programs Over the past four years, the Canadian Daughters’ League has donated funds to assist female music students. In December, the League and its secretary, Marj Riste, gave funds to the Capilano College Foundation to establish a permanent endowment that will generate income for the Canadian Daughters’ League Bursary. The League’s $5,500 donation and another $500 from Mrs. Riste will be doubled by the provincial government's matching program to create a $12,000 endowment. The earned interest of the endowment will assist women students in the music program at Capilano College. Another endowment toward music education has come from the B.C. Chapter of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy. The organization has donated $750 for the establishment of a permanent endowment. A full day of dynamic workshops is planned for support staff at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel, but you must act quickly—the registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 1. There are three morning sessions, with each running from 9 a.m. to noon. The three afternoon sessions start at 1:30 and run until 4:30 p.m. Lunch and special entertainment at the Bistro on the second floor of the quay will provide a break between morning and afternoon sessions. A no-host bar will end the day. Participants have as the fund is large enough to earn $500 interest annually, a bursary will be established for a music therapy student who meets qualification criteria.
