SUMMER INSTITUTE The University of Victoria’s Teaching and Learning Centre announces a Faculty Development Summer Institute to be held August 18-22, 1991. Entitled “Enhancing the Teaching Experience", this residential institute will enable participants to *share teaching methods that can increase enthusiasm and energy in the classroom *model a number of group building techniques that can lead to better learning *recognize that critical skills such as writing and effective study methods have their place across the curriculum *introduce strategies for the continuous monitoring of learning progress. ANNOUNCING TSC - TEXTUAL STUDIES IN CANADA -a collaborative journal of interdisciplinary inquiry, and A CALL FOR PAPERS TEXTUAL STUDIES IN CANADA provides a collaborative and interdisciplinary forum in which researchers and teachers can address issues related to the study of texts within a Canadian context. The editors are interested in how texts are composed, read, and variously defined according to disciplinary and cultural presuppositions. Appropriate subjects include Canadian literature, popular culture, rhetoric, composition, reading theory, translation, pedagogy, Canadian Studies, feminism, and critical theory. TEXTUAL STUDIES IN CANADA is published in the summer with the aid of a grant from Cariboo University College. It is a member of the CELJ Conference of Editors of Learned Journals.
