Minutes of a Meeting or the North Shore Regional College Co-ordinating
Committee held on Thursday. August 188 19661 at 12:00 noon in the offices
of the West Vancouver School Board.

The minutes of the meeting or August 5th. as amended• were adopted.
It was decided that while the minutes of the meetin� were confidential to
the members a paraphrase or essential points wuld be supplied to members
of each Board for information.
A general discussion followed regarding the terms or employment and the method
of appointment of an assistant to Mr. Brooks. The following points were agreed
upong
lo That the contract should be from September 1, 1966 t,o June JO, 1967 with
no committment beyond that date.
2. That possession of a teacher's c ertificate was desirable but not essen­
tial.
Jo That the Assistant should be attached to the Staff of the North Vancouver
School Board.
4o That the Co-ordinating Committee would re-imburse the North Vancouver
School Board for the cost or time released to develop the Regional College
curriculum, up to a maximum of $10 9 0000
5o That applications should be screened by a committee consisting of Mro Lucas 9
Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Brookso
60 That applicants recommended by this committee should be interviewed by the
North Vancouver School Board at a special meeting on Wednesday, August 24th,
trl.th representatives from the other three Boards present by invitation.
Mro Wallace reported that he had information indicating that federal support
for vocational education had been extended beyond March, 1967. The Secretary
was asked to prepare a memorandum on this, and to supply it to all local can­
didates in the Provincial election, together with a summary of the Regional
College feasibility survey and a factual report of the progress of the College
project to datao
Further suggestions were:

Committee member�acquainted with candidates should seek their support
for the Regional Collegeo
2o That a letter of inquiry regarding federal support should be sent to Jack
Davis, MoPo
Jo That the Lion's Gate Times should be asked to write an editorial supporting
the Collegao

- 2 4o That a further letter should be directed to the Minister asking for
consideration of the Boards' request for a plebisciteo
