New social committee offers tax break he College ad hoc Social Committee would like to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets in December. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, we were able to donate 100 per cent of the funds raised to the North Shore Christmas Bureau. We gave them a cash donation of $1,211! We were in a dilemma about what to do with the tax receipt until we unanimously agreed at a recent committee meeting that we should hold a special draw just for the receipt. Don Kinloch, employee relations assistant, volunteered to take charge of the draw, and beginning February 2 he will be visiting all departments with tickets in hand. If you miss his visit, give him a On a Personnel Note | i appy New Year! Most of our staffing activity has been of a temporary nature, filling positions for the Registration and Bookstore rushes, which is always an exciting time. We have two new RFT Admission/ Registration assistants in Registration this month —- Carlos Andrada, who was previously helping out in the Bookstore, and Viera Hamza, who had temporary hires in Financial Services. Lee Ederer is the new secretary, reporting to the registrar, Itidal Sadek. Lee is replacing Jeanne Classen, who is retiring at the end of this month. Good luck and congratulations to all! We’ ve had a couple of resignations in the last month. Joan Miniciello has resigned from her Bookstore clerk I position in the Bookstore, and Linda Goch resigned from the Registration department. Good luck to you both in your future endeavors! Wendy Dansie will be assuming the temporary CECS assistant position in Continuing Education and Contract Services, helping Lynn Jest. As a result we are posting for a temporary replacement for Wendy in the Word Processing Centre until she returns. I would like to remind everyone that the Personnel Services workshops are still ongoing with subjects such as conflict resolution, word processing hints, and how to figure out the College computer network. Dates and times are listed on the brightly-colored sheet in your mail. Please come and check us out! Submitted by Dale Gagne call at local 4979. Tickets will be available for $1 each or three for $2 with the draw taking place in the cafeteria on February 13. The draw is open to all College employees. Money collected will be used to support future social events. That’s not all! Those of us who attended the Social Committee meeting also agree that we wish to continue as a committee. We have representation from staff, faculty and administration, as well as an exempt employee. We wish to continue not only our fundraising efforts, but also to promote College-wide social activities with emphasis on the December holiday party. Please see next month’s /nformer for information on what we have planned for the coming months.
