THE INFORMER PAGE 4 MARCH 12, 1990 The Creation In the beginning was the plan And then came the assumptions And the assumptions were without form And the plan was completely without substance And darkness was upon the faces of the workers And they spake unto their group heads, saying: “Tt is a crock and it stinketh!” And the group heads went unto their section heads and sayeth” “Tt is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odour thereof!” And the section heads went unto their managers and sayeth unto them: “Tt is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it.” And the managers went to their director, and sayeth unto her: “Tt is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide by its strength.” And the director went unto her vice-president and sayeth: “Tt contains that which aids plant growth and is very strong.” And the vice-president went unto the president and sayeth unto him: “Tt promoteth growth, and it is very powerful.” And the president went unto the chairman of the board and sayeth unto her: “This powerful new plan will actively promote growth and the efficiency of the company.” And the chairperson looked upon the plan and saw that it was good. And the plan became policy. Please Keep Our Campus Clean! The North Shore's First Multicultural Association Students inspired by Bernardo Berdichewsky's Anthropology 200 class (Ethnic Relations) have started the first Multicultural Association on the North Shore. "We want to start with raising the consciousness of the College community then move beyond the campus," says acting chair Kristine Langedyk. Formed just two weeks ago, the Association has the full support of the College, says Doug Jardine. Speaking at the Multicultural Lunch held in H402 last Wednesday, Doug commended the students on their initiative and said"We have always felt that the College should take a leadership role in these kinds of things in the community." The Association, which gathered 35 new members at the lunch, "is breaking new ground on the North Shore," says Lloyd Dolha, one of the ebullient three who form the core of the group. Kristine, Lloyd, and Cherie Summers, commented that the North Shore has a dismal history in ethnic relations, citing the old .... rules of the British Properties. Pleased with the large turnout for their lunch, over 40 people showed up to sample the home-made ethnic food and hear Paul Erinle's Gongan (talking drum) and flute by Jeff Feinstein, the students are now enthusiastically planning their next event to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Prejudice March 21.
