United Way: Popping balloons, a lively auction, great prizes, a large sum of money in the 50/50 draw, craft fair proceeds, and loads of enthusiasm all played a key supporting role in the College’s 2001 United Way campaign. However, the real accolades go to the many compassionate and generous College employees (and some students) who dug deeper than ever before to help this year’s United Way committee raise the enormous sum of close to $25,000. Four College employees came away with amazing prizes. ESL instructor Joan Acosta won a reserved parking space; cashier Jeannie Bell-Irving popped a balloon and won an annual parking permit; CANASEAN coordinator Erin Krieger won more than $600 in the 50/50 draw, then generously contributed $100 back to the campaign; and English instructor Melanie Fahlman-Reid won a trip for two to Jasper.
