You can also munch while you give if you visit the booth in the South Cafe, as they will be having a bake sale from noon to 2 pm. The North Cafe booth will be run in conjunction with the Beaver Foods Thanksgiving Dinner and the Retail Management pub night, and will be open from 4 to 6 pm. Those who drop off pledge cards or donations will also have their names entered in a draw to be made later this month. Program held at Beacon Hill An update program for Food Service Workers in Long Term Care is being offered by Cap at the Beacon Hill Lodge inWest Vancouver. This program, which is designed to assist food service employees involved in institutional food preparation and service who have no formal training in the field, will be held Tuesday evenings and is divided into two parts. Level 1 starts October 8 and Level 2 on November 12. It is being instructed by Margot Rawsthorne, and North Shore Health Inspector Sally de la Rue Brown will be testing students for the Food Handler's Pin and Card. This is the second time that these two courses have been offered by Cap at the request of Long Term Care facility administrators. Ethnobotony display on tour Douglas College is holding an exhibit of Native Indian foods at the New Westminster campus until October 31. 'Wild Harvest’, presented by the B.C. Provincial Museum, is a travelling ethnobotony display funded by the National Museum of Man. It shows the most popular food plants eaten by the west coast Indians, photos of the harvest and preparations, and includes a steaming pit, used to cook edible roots and bulbs. The exhibit ison display between 10 am and 4 pm weekdays, and special arrangements to view it can be made by contacting the Social Sciences department at 520-5400.
