An impressive group of alumni Alpha Woodward is Capilano’s very first Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. Through her work providing music therapy at the Pavarotti Music Centre in Mostar, Bosnia, children who have suffered from war-related mental and physical injuries are slowly putting their lives back together. Centre School of Business Interactive Design Capilano’s recruitment efforts have been rolling full steam ahead over the past year. Approximately 60 friends and colleagues of the nominees, along with some Capilano employees, attended the champagne reception hosted by Dr. Greg Lee. The guests were captivated by the nominees’ stories about their college experiences and their achievements since graduating. In addition to being honoured by Capilano, each nominee also received a special commemoration from Don Bell, Liberal MP for North Vancouver. Students from the IDEA program excelled in the 20 Salazar Awards, held June at Emily Carr, with almost of the total awards going Capilano. Winners in the Pri Design category were: Megan Brooks, Kim Ridgewell, Penelope Tse, Ashley Hostasek and Terry Chau. Winners in the Advertising Design category: Megan Seely and Megan Brooks. The GDC/BC Salazar Student Awards, established in 1985 by the British Columbia Mainland Chapter of The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, was created in honour of Enrique Salazar. Enrique was one of the founding members of the society and the national representative for the B.C. chapter for two years. He was a partner in Salazar Graphics and tatuight graphic design at Capilano until he passed away in June 1985. Metropolitan Fine Printers is the founding sponsor. of this event. Campbell At its August meeting, Education Council welcomed two new. members, Nadine Bruce (support staff representative) and Reini Klein (support staff union representative). We also gave formal approval to student orientation, which was held on September 4. Most C student success and student retention.
