Capilano College celebrates its 30th birthday

998 marks the 30th anniversary of

Capilano College. To celebrate the
occasion, the College Relations
department is planning some special
activities that will take place
throughout the year.

There are many things that make
each post-secondary institution
unique, but it’s the people who work
at them that make things happen.
Therefore, we are placing an internal
focus on our anniversary and would
like to recognize Capilano College
employees for the special services
they provide.

On Friday, October 2, there will be
a reception at which employees with
21 years or more service at the
College will be acknowledged. We
would also like to recognize people
for specific contributions. To do this,
we are asking for your input. If we
were to present awards of excellence,
what should they be for? What would
you say the criteria should be, and
who should be putting forward the
nominations? Some of the ideas we

have already received include:

° a teaching award of excellence, for
faculty, with nominations coming from
the students

¢ a College leadership award of
excellence, for all employees

e a College service award of excellence,
for all employees

* acustomer relations award of
excellence, for all employees

Please let me know what you think of
these categories and add your own to the
list, as well as your comments. Your
input is extremely important to us. Please

Media Production Services has
designed two 30th anniversary logos
that can be downloaded and placed
onto your documents from h:/users/
graphics/30years. They are simple

- designs which can also be put onto your

letterhead through the Print Shop.
Simply send the Print Shop your
letterhead with a print requisition to
have the logo added. The cost is
minimal.

The College Relations department is
also inviting calls from departments
who are planning special reunions or
functions relating to the 30th
anniversary. There are several ways in
which we can help you promote your
event, including an announcement in
the alumni newsletter, almamatters,
which will be going out in March.
We’re also putting together a Web site
with information about our anniversary
and any special events that may be tied
in with it. Please call Shelley with any
