Arts briefs invited The Forum on the Arts hosted at Capilano College on Saturday, October 17 attracted over 100 people, including a number of our own faculty members, and was deemed a considerable success. Setting the tone for the event, which was sponsored by the North Shore Cultural Policy Committee, were exhibits by Art faculty and students, and performances by the Music students. The presentations by Max Wyman, John Gray, David Driscoll and Carol Watamaniuk were well received, and the Mayors of North Vancouver City and District commented favourably on the role being played in the community by Capilano College. Presentations, written or verbal, on the formation of a cultural policy for the North Shore are being invited at the following times and places: * Thursday, November 5 - 7:30 pm, North Van. District Hall Council Chambers * Saturday, November 14 - 10:00 am, Capilano College, room A117 * Thursday, November 19 - 7:30 pm, West Van. Municipal Hall Council Chambers * Thursday, November 26 - 7:30 pm, North Vancouver City Hall If you wish to make an appointment to present a brief, contact Oxana Dexter, c/o the Centennial Theatre, 984-4484. Alumni meeting held The Graphic Design and Illustration Program (formerly Commercial Art) held an alumni meeting on Tuesday, October 20, to which they invited all of their graduates from the last 15 years. Out of the approximately 300 invited, over 40 people attended this meeting and proceeded with much enthusiasm to name representatives from each of the 15 years and move forward with their first project—an Alumni Directory. The Directory will be designed by a 1985 graduate, Brian Tycho of Tycho/Clay. Instructor Al Zimmerman, who organized the event, is delighted with the results so far. The next meeting has been set for Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 pm in the All College Lounge. Locked out again Wednesday, November 11 is a holiday. That’s the good news. The bad news is that, should you for some reason wish to come to College on that day, the buildings will be locked. If you need to obtain access to a building on Remembrance Day contact Ken Hughes at 2962 as soon as possible.
