Athletic award recipients included categories in badminton, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. Students and faculty attended along with major sponsors Coca-Cola and Rucanor. Cara Valli took Female Athlete of the Year along with JeffYoon for Male Athlete of the Year, yet everyone was a winner on this special night. Men's basketball coach Paul Eberhardt caught the event. Cap women's soccer coach Doug Abercrombie has taken his team to three national and four provincial championship titles. Jeff Whitey hoops it up with Vernis Blair, who took home a Rucanor award for basketball. Executive director of the Capilano College Foundation, Lana Robinson and vice chair of the colleges board of governors, Donnaleen Miller got talking. Lisa Iwamoto (left) sits beside Melissa Chancey who took both MVP and All Star in basketball with Heidi Wong alongside. President of Capilano College Dr. Greg Lee gave the Athlete of the Year Award to Jeff Yoon (not in photo). All Star Alisah McPhee checked out her soccer team's photo with Heather Reid who won a scholastic honour for her 3.58 GPA. Lindsay Diehl, active in both soccer and basketball, was honoured for her GPA of 3.11 while Kree Girard, a former ball player, now manages women's soccer. Sandra Stevenson, president of Sport B.C. for three years running, presented awards. Keynote speaker for the evening, Simon Fraser basketball University coach Allison McNeil!, welcomed all. Capilano College athletic director Joe Iacobellis teams with the representative for Coca-Cola, Victor Chow. Members of the badminton team, Patrick Ng, Wendy Soo, Mike Chun, Michael Clay, Rajiv Jhangiani and Eric Siu, boasted the team with the highest GPA averĀ­ age at 2.86. The Graham Coates memorial soccer scholarship was presented by Barbara and Stuart Coates.
